What services are offered in my home?
I specialize in compassionate end-of-life care, including quality-of-life consultations, gentle in-home euthanasia, and respectful aftercare arrangements to ensure your pet's final moments are peaceful and familiar. Once the procedure is done, you may choose to keep your pet for home burial or select from either communal or private cremation, which I will facilitate
How does pricing work?
Costs are structured to reflect the specialized nature of house-call services. Costs generally include a base visit fee and vary depending on your location and the specific aftercare options you choose for your beloved pet. Base cost is $300 and a specific quote is based on exact location, urgency and availability. Cremation quotes will be provided on request
What can I expect during a visit?
A typical visit is unhurried and focused on comfort. A sedative injection will be administered first. This will result in deep, pain-and-fear free relaxation and will take about 5-10 times to maximum effect. When you and your pet are ready, the second injection will be administered that will result in cessation of breath and heart beat. This second injection is completely pain free and usually takes less than a minute.
How far does your service area extend?
I proudly serve all of East Hawaii, including Hilo, the Puna District, and the Hamakua Coast. Bringing care directly to your doorstep ensures your pet remains in the environment where they feel most safe. Although outside my normal range, visits to South Big Island, including Na'alehu can sometimes be arranged
How do I schedule an appointment?
The best way to schedule is directly through our website or phone. I strive to be as responsive as possible, recognizing that these decisions are often time-sensitive and deeply emotional. Often appointments can be arranged same-day but this is not guaranteed and emergency visits can be more expensive based on my availability
Can family members be present?
Absolutely. One of the greatest benefits of home care is the ability for family members, friends and other pets to be present in a quiet, private setting to say their goodbyes in their own way.
Services and Availability
Dr Maloney is available for on-island services during specific windows only, including July 2–22 2026 and October 2026–April 2027. At other times, she is on the mainland and unable to provide local veterinary care.

A Big Island native born and raised on the island, Dr. Maloney attended veterinary school in the St Paul, MN. After purchasing a practice there in 2012, she now lives a hybrid life, making frequent trips back home to provide dedicated care for pets across the Big Island. Her local roots and experienced professional background ensure your pet receives the kindest care with knowledge of what makes island pet care unique.
